Wanting to add value to the milk they produce, farmers from more than 100 milk marketing organizations came together to form AMPI. Significant dates in our history include:
- 1969
AMPI is formed with three regions: Northern, Central and Southern Region.
- 1972
AMPI Northern and Central Region operations combined, forming AMPI North Central Region.
- 1975
AMPI cheese packaging plant in Portage, Wis., as well as an instant powder plant in Mason City, Iowa are transferred to AMPI North Central Region.
- 1982
AMPI acquires cheese manufacturing plant and a secondary processing plant in Dawson, Minn.
- 1986
AMPI makes the largest acquisition in the co-op's history with the purchase of Falls Dairy Co. in Jim Falls, Wis.
- 1998
Southern and North Central Regions of AMPI seperate.
Southern Region joins Dairy Farmers of America (DFA).
North Central AMPI is formed.
- 2007
AMPI acquires Cass-Clay Creamery, Inc. based out of Fargo, N.D.
