AMPI Sells New Ulm Butter Plant to Grassland Dairy Products
New Ulm, Minn. (Oct. 30, 2025) – Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) announced it is selling its New Ulm, Minn., butter plant to Grassland Dairy Products Inc. of Greenwood, Wis.
The sale is expected to close by the end of calendar 2025. Terms of the transaction are confidential.
AMPI and Grassland leadership said the sale aligns with each organization’s core competencies. The dairy farmer-owned AMPI is a globally recognized cheese company, while Grassland focuses on butter products.
AMPI’s Dinner Bell Creamery® butter will be packaged on behalf of AMPI by Grassland, including the butter used in the nationally recognized sculptures of the Princess Kay of the Milky Way and dairy princesses at the Minnesota State Fair and the Iowa State Fair’s famous Butter Cow.
